To support Taiwan's growing EV market, Taipower advances smart charging infrastructure and grid integration through a phased roadmap.
Short-Term Actions
- Smart Infrastructure: Established a Taipei demonstration site featuring EMS-controlled smart charging, dedicated meters, and off-peak charging incentives.
- Service & Safety: Opened EV service counters across all 24 district offices and enforced mandatory VPC certification for all new charging setups.
Medium- & Long-Term Roadmap
- Grid Integration: Developing EV-specific TOU rates, demand response programs, and an integrated management platform linked with DREAMS.
- V2G Innovation: Partnered with Gogoro to verify bidirectional power transmission via V2G battery swapping stations, establishing a foundation for future grid resilience and smart dispatching.
Current Status of Electric Vehicle Planning
In line with government EV policy, Taipower supports residential transport electrification by easing meter application rules for apartment buildings and introducing EV-dedicated tariffs.
By late 2025, Taipower had accepted 10,456 EV power applications, completing grid connections for 8,220 cases.
