Vision and Mission
The Taiwan Power Research Institute (TPRI) is a pivotal unit within Taiwan Power Company (TPC) possessing core technologies and professional research expertise. Following TPC's overall development objectives and strategic direction, TPRI is responsible for framing short-, medium-, and long-term R&D plans and creating blueprints for innovative applications in testing technology. TPRI provides diverse and professional research and testing services. By strengthening core technologies and connecting with resources from domestic and international scientific research institutions, TPRI accelerates the introduction and application of emerging technologies, dedicated to optimizing operational efficiency and reducing costs, which assists TPC in addressing critical challenges such as energy transition, stable power supply, and the surging electricity demand driven by AI. The vision, mission, and responsibilities of TPRI are as follows:

Prospection
Since the Taiwan Power Research Institute (TPRI) was founded,TPRI has accumulated significant research results and technological expertise in the power industry, making TPRI a strong pillar for Taiwan Power Company (TPC) to pursue excellence and development. Facing the challenges of energy transition and power market reform, TPRI has adhered to the concept of “creating growth advantages for power industry management” and has refined the core competencies to remain competitive while pursuing steady, long-term sustainable development.
In response to the challenges of energy transition, large-scale integration of renewable energy into the grid, and global net-zero carbon emissions, TPRI focuses on three major research pillars: “Net-Zero Transition,” “Digital Transformation,” and “Resilience Adaptation.” These three pillars are designed to build the critical technologies and strategic foundations required by TPC for its low-carbon and net-zero transition.
Looking forward, TPRI will continue to innovate in frontier research and development. Focusing on key issues such as ensuring a stable power supply, deploying smart grids, maximizing renewable energy integration, and advancing low-carbon/zero-carbon technologies, TPRI will strengthen cooperation with domestic and international scientific research institutions to accelerate the application of research results. This will assist TPC in attaining its energy transition and net-zero carbon emissions goals, thereby demonstrating the core value of TPRI.
